<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal effectively suppressing a display screen from being peeped from a slanting direction. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of segments arranged like a matrix and a background area except the plurality of segments are formed in a display area of a display device 5, the whole display area is considered as a wide viewing angle in a wide viewing mode and the plurality of segments are independently switched to the wide viewing angles or narrow viewing angles in a narrow viewing mode. When the display screen is watched from the slanting direction in the narrow viewing mode, a pattern with high contrast is visually inspected in an area of the segment of wide viewing angle to screen display of which the contrast is lowered by making the background area into the narrow viewing angle. Consequently, it is made difficult to read the screen display by attracting consciousness of a person who intends to peep the display screen to the pattern of high contrast in the narrow viewing mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
