<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surge absorber for reducing a volume and a cost of an apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The surge absorber is connected to an input of an electric motor driven by a power converter for outputting a three-phase AC, has a three-phase series circuit comprising resistors 6, capacitors 7 and reverse conduction switches 8, connected to phases in the vicinity of the input of the electric motor 4 at one end and connected to a common neutral point at the other end, and a voltage sensing/controlling means for detecting a voltage across each phase of the series circuit, and turns on/off the reverse conduction switch 8 in each phase in response to a voltage detected by the voltage sensing/controlling means in each phase. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
