PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material excellent in antistaticity and anti-fogging performances by virtue of dewing inhibition, and water resistance of the coated film, and to provide a molded article (e.g. a film, a sheet, a molding and a fiber, especially a molded article of a biodegradable plastic) applied with the coating material. SOLUTION: This coating material comprises carrageenan of 0.01-10 wt.% and colloidal silica of 0.01-20 wt.% in terms of SiO<SB>2</SB>content, where the carrageenan is preferably at least a kind selected fromι-carrageenan andκ-carrageenan, and the average particle diameter of the colloidal silica is preferably 3-50 nm.
