PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face authentication device for judging whether the face of a person to be authenticated is the face of a living body or a pseudo face such as a photograph to prevent impersonation, and for confirming the person as the object of impersonation afterwards. SOLUTION: In this face authentication device, when an authentication result showing that a person is the target of registration is outputted from an authentication means 3, and an identification result showing that the face of an image to be recognized is a living body is outputted from a living body identification means 5, a decision result output means 7 outputs a decision result showing that a person as the target of authentication is a registered person. Thus, it is possible to prevent erroneous authentication due to impersonation. When it is authenticated that the person as the object of authentication is the registered person by the authentication means 4, the decision result output means 7 makes a storage means 6 store information for specifying the the registered person and the living body identification result regardless of the identification result of the living body identification means 5.
