PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of restraining power consumption without spoiling convenience. SOLUTION: A master control part 20 inputs the result of detection from a detection circuit 23, and judges whether or not an image signal is input. When the input of the image signal is stopped because a cable for transmitting the image signal is pulled out or reproducing stop operation is performed on an image supply device side, the master control part 20 designates a light source driving part 24 to turn off an LED light source 11, and also designates an image control part 25 to stop the sampling of RGB signals by an A/D converter 26.
