PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily read image data and apply the processing to the read image in conformity with the capability of a transmission destination apparatus without the need for setting read parameters at transmission of image data. SOLUTION: When an Internet facsimile machine 2 being the communication apparatus transmits image data to an external terminal, the Internet facsimile machine 2 uses capability information of the external terminal acquired in advance (S70), sets reading parameter of the image data (S72), reads the image data, and transmits the image data.
