PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-drive seat belt retractor which suppresses the vibration of a cover as much as possible while suppressing an increase in weight as much as possible. SOLUTION: A set number of ribs 11 are provided to a thin-walled flat plane part 9a of the cover 9 of a power transmission gear mechanism 8. The ribs 11 are extended in parallel with each other in the up-and-down (vertical) direction of the seat belt retractor 1. Since the rigidity of the cover 9 is improved by the ribs 11, even when vibrations are generated in the time of the drive of the motor 7 and the operation of the power transmission mechanism 8, the vibrations are picked up and the vibration of the cover 9 is effectively suppressed.
