The control regulating process is for an engine (1) with common rail system, for which the rail pressure (pCR) is regulating the normal operation. A second actual rail pressure is determined by a second filter. The loading drop is determined when the second rail filter exceeds a first boundary value. This is recognized in the pulse width modulated signal (PWM), which is set to a higher PWM value than that for normal operation.
