<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically sell merchandise by coupon discount when the coupon information of a discount service object is present in coupon information stored in a portable information terminal. <P>SOLUTION: A POS terminal 3 is configured to communicate data with a portable telephone set 2 in which coupon information relating to the discount of specific merchandise is stored. The POS terminal 3 retrieves whether or not the coupon information of merchandise input for sales is stored by the portable telephone set 2 in a data communication status.
