PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline cell which has a gelatinous anode containing fine zinc particles or zinc alloy particles and which is superior in productivity. SOLUTION: This is the alkaline cell having an alkaline electrolytic solution and the gelatinous anode in which the zinc particles or the zinc alloy particles are dispersed in a gelatinous electrolytic solution containing a gelatinizing agent, and the alkaline cell in which the zinc particles or the zinc alloy particles contain 30 wt% or more of particles of particle diameters of 75μm or less, in which proportion occupied by the zinc particles or the zinc alloy particles is 60 to 70 wt% in the gelatinous negative electrode, and which contains at least one kind of a spherical cross-linked polyacrylic acid of the average particle diameter of 40 to 100μm or its salt type water-absorbing polymer as the gelation agent, and contains the gelation agent except the cross-linked polyacrylic acid or its salt type water-absorbing polymer.
