The feed mechanism comprises two rollers (5,6) which form an inlet (10) and which in the normal rest position bear against one another. When the shredder is used the rollers can be forced apart by the inserted file. The two ends of the rollers are positioned on positioning plates (7) fixed on the housing and each having a W-shaped positioning recess in which two sliders are provided whereby the two rollers can slide in the positioning recess and the guide elements can engage in the rollers.
