Compasses have an optional fixing device for pressure pencil inserts on the lower compass arm (4, 5). Fine setting of the arm is done by a spindle and lever mechanism in a pivot housing, actuated by the spindle turning handle, and can be fixed by a ringnut underneath it. The compass arm can be extended by folding out or pulling out integrated elements (25, 26).
