<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve reduction of the number of components without jeopardizing illumination quality of a backlight device. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight device is provided with a light guide plate 1 made of a transparent material nearly in a rectangular shape with light-irradiating faces at opposing faces. A light source is arranged at a side face 1a of the light guide plate, a light diffusion plate 4 or a reflective diffusion plate 5 each on the surface and on the rear face of the light guide plate with a first and a second converging films 6, 7 arranged on the surface side and a converging film 9 on the rear face side, and a convergence reinforcing member 8 with a prism 8a integrally formed on the surface of translucent resin is fitted into an opening part for lighting a rear-face LCD on the bottom face a holder 10 housing the members. By curtailing one sheet of convergence film of the rear-face side out of the members constituting the backlight device, cost of the backlight device can be cut down without jeopardizing the quality of lighting. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
