PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal device such as a facsimile machine or a digital composite machine whereby a center apparatus can grasp a state of a fault without the need for a serviceman to pay a visit to the communication terminal to the utmost extent. SOLUTION: A main control section 1 of a digital compound machine 20 being the communication terminal device connected to the center apparatus via an IP network uses a microphone 14A to pick up sound such as abnormal sound generated in the digital compound machine 20 on the basis of depression of a sound recording instruction key 5a of an operation section 5 or to obtain sound or sound of a sound signal of a facsimile signal transmitted via a public telephone network 80 or the Internet 90 and uses a voice file generating section 14 to convert the sound into a digital sound signal, and the digital compound machine 20 transmits the digital sound signal to the center apparatus 40 via the Internet 90.
