PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reproducing apparatus which makes it easy to specify whether a problem has occurred or not and enables reproduction even when a problem occurs by the fault of system etc., when reproducing compressed image data. SOLUTION: A history information storage section 7 memorizes history information of an image signal extended in an extension circuit 4. A reproduction status management section 8 manages reproduction status of the compressed image data based on the history information memorized by the history information storage section 7. For example, visualization of the history information memorized by the history information storage section 7 is carried out, and the status signal is transmitted to a display device from an output terminal 9 and can be projected on the display device.
