PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device and an electronic apparatus that can suppress a decrease in contrast by suppressing effect of disclination while suppressing burning of an elelctrooptic substance, a flicker, and an increase in power consumption. SOLUTION: The electrooptical device 1 has a data line driving circuit 30 including a multiplexer 31 having a plurality of multiplexer unit circuits controlling a plurality of data lines X together. In this electrooptical device 1, the data line driving circuit 30 performs positive-polarity writing and negative-polarity writing of one frame so that the total of polarities of pixel electrodes 41 in the extending direction of scanning lines Y is nearly equal, two or more pixel electrodes 41 which are adjacent in the extending directions of the scanning lines Y and data lines X have the same polarity, and pixel electrodes 41 which are adjacent in the extending direction of the scanning lines Y and controlled by different multiplexer unit circuits have the same polarity.
