A hinge comprises a member 1 having an arcuate portion provided with arcuate slots 5, a member 6 having an arcuate portion adapted to ride on the arcuate portion of the first member and also having looped portions 9 extending through the slots, and a pin 10 connecting the looped portions together. Member 1 has an outwardly directed flange 2 secured to a frame F, and an inwardly directed flange 3 defining a loop 4 into which the slots extend. Member 6 has an outwardly directed flange 7 secured to a door D. Movement of member 6 from the closed position of the door takes place about the radius of curvature of the arcuate portions till the pin lodges in the loop 4 to permit further turning of member 6 about the axis of the pin. Loop 4 is formed with external cam elements 11 which co-operate with tongues 8 at the free end of member 6 to retain the door in the fully open position. Springs 14 coiled around the pin in the spaces between loops 9 have respective ends abutting member 6 and an offset end 17 of flange 3. The springs, by co-operation with the end 17, serve to bias the pin to one or the other end of the slots. Member 1 is provided with arcuate ridges 12 which engage corresponding arcuate channels 13 provided on member 6. |
