In a microphone of the kind in which the diaphragm is acoustically coupled with one end of a pipe 2, the other open end 4 of which is provided with means to compensate the drop in the frequency characteristic of the microphone at the higher frequencies, the said means comprises a tube 5 open at both ends, in which tube 5 the open end 4 of the pipe 2 is situated, the tube 5 having a resonant frequency in the frequency range in which the characteristic curve would otherwise drop, and each open end of the tube 5 being situated in a further tube 7 of larger diameter and smaller length.
