PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical modulating element capable of maintaining stability of operations, by preventing return of reflected light reflected by Fresnel reflection to the path of incident light ray and preventing attenuation of the light inside and an electric field detection module, capable of preventing sensitivity deterioration by using the electro-optical modulating element. SOLUTION: As shown in Figure 1(a), the reflected light ray on an optical incidence plane 101A is avoided from the path of the incident light, by providing electro-optical crystal EOM with the optical incidence plane 101A inclined in the vertical direction, in this case in the upper direction, and thus, operation of a light source LS on the path from becoming unstable. In addition, as shown in Figure 1(b), the light made incident from the optical incidence plane 1A is prevented from bending in the horizontal direction, namely, in the electric field impression direction in that case, by inclining the optical incidence plane 101A in the vertical direction, thus the attenuation of the light on the side is prevented, and the deterioration of detection sensitivity of electric field intensity is prevented.
