PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional material usable as a substrate for a cell culture medium or a support for a nanomachine. SOLUTION: A honeycomb porous body of bacterial cellulose is provided. A method for producing the honeycomb porous body is also provided, comprising the step of preparing a solid nutrient medium having an uneven pattern opposite to the surface unevenness of the porous body using itself as a template, the step of inoculating the solid nutrient medium with the bacterial cellulose, and the step of making the microorganisms produce the cellulose under an atmosphere of≥90% relative humidity and≥50% carbon dioxide concentration.
