PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable insertion device and a cable insertion method of high reliability, capable of feeding a cable easily and quickly into a cell, capable of preventing the atmosphere within the cell from being discharged to an external environment, and capable of inserting the cable into the cell inexpensively with proper appearance state. SOLUTION: This cable insertion device/method is provided with a cable insertion device body 29 connected to a feed valve 6 of a small-article feed device, and having an inside inserted with the cable 21, a bag body 30 attached to an outer circumferential side of the cable insertion device body 29 and capable of storing the cable 21 fed into the cable insertion device body 29 in its inside, and capable of extending the cable 21 in a side opposite to the cable insertion device body 29, to an outside through a rubber stopper 32, a filter 38 and an in-leak valve 35 provided an in-leak pipe 36 of the cable insertion device body 29, and a filter 31 provided in the bag body 30.
