PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin composition in which a layered silicate is uniformly dispersed in nanometer level, its production method and a shaped article obtained from the composition. SOLUTION: This polyester resin composition comprises a layered silicate ion-exchanged by 60-100% by a specific organic onium ion, and an aromatic copolyester resin comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid unit containing a sulfonic acid group expressed by formula (III), wherein Ar<SB>2</SB>is a 6-20C (2+n) valent aromatic hydrocarbon group or aliphatic hydrocarbon group; X is a metal element or hydrogen; and n is a number of 1-4, in an amount of 0.01-3.0 mol% in the total acid components, where the content of the layered silicate is 0.01-20 wt.% in terms of inorganic ash content.
