PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for tire tread having improved cutting resistance by increasing hardness without degrading fracture properties. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for tire tread comprises 100 pts.wt. of a diene rubber mainly composed of a natural rubber and/or a synthetic polyisoprene rubber, 0.1-10.0 pts.wt. of a copper powder having a specific surface area of 0.1-10.0 m<SP>2</SP>/g, and less than 0.05 pt.wt. in terms of cobalt of an organic acid cobalt salt.
