PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a start determination device for an occupant crash protector of a vehicle capable of detecting an oblique impact state rapidly with high accuracy and determining the start only by right and left front sensors. SOLUTION: The left front acceleration sensor signal LS is received by an integrator 12 through a high pass filter 11 arranged in an ECU 2 to calculate the velocity VL. Similarly, the right front acceleration sensor signal RS is received by an integrator 14 through a high pass filter 13 arranged in the ECU 2 to calculate the velocity VR. The similarity function is operated by a similarity function operation unit 15 from the signals of the velocity VL and VR, and when the output value exceeds the threshold in threshold determination units 20, 21, ignition is performed by an airbag ignitor and an airbag is operated.
