PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a patterning roll increased in the degree of freedom of the setting of a design to be transferred to a molded body and superior in durability, its manufacturing method and a method of manufacturing an inorganic molded body using the patterning roll. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the patterning roll forms a transfer surface by using a flat, design pattern mold having the same design as an external wall and fabricating reverse molds in a plurality of times. In the process of making the reverse molds in a plurality of times, at least one time a rubber is used as the material of a reverse mold to compose the design surface 15a and this makes possible for it to be curved and deformed along the outer face of a cylindrical mold which transfers the transfer surface 11a to the outer peripheral face. In the patterning roll 11, the cylindrical body 11b, which is provided on its outer peripheral face with the transfer surface 11a, is composed of a fiber reinforced resin (FRP).
