PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MRI apparatus, collecting MR signals of high sensitivity and high quality by accurately disposing a receiving coil in the vicinity of the surface of a subject. SOLUTION: In detecting the MR signal from a wide range of imaged region of a subject 150 moving in the body axis (Z-axis) direction using the receiving coil 33a, with rollers R1 and R2 fitted to the periphery of the receiving coil 33a brought into contact with the body surface of the subject 150, the receiving coil 33a is fitted to a fixed part of a gantry using a parallel link mechanism including arms A1, A2 and frames F1 and F2 and a coil holding mechanism 35 including the rollers R1, R2 and a spring B, whereby the receiving coil 33a is moved in the Y-axis direction along the recessed and projecting parts of the subject surface to be always disposed in the vicinity of the body surface.
