PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MRI apparatus capable of separating water/fat signals without performing computation among acquired measurement data and acquiring water/fat separation images at a high speed. SOLUTION: High frequency magnetic field pulses 101 are repeatedly emitted at a prescribed time interval (TR) and magnetization is turned to a steady state. Also, by applying a gradient magnetic field so as to turn the phase dispersion of the magnetization to 0 at every TR, nuclear magnetic resonance signals are measured in a coherent steady state. At the time, the TR is set at such a time interval that water magnetization and fat magnetization become opposite phases, and for the phase of the high frequency magnetic field pulses emitted at every TR, a phase difference is changed by a predetermined size at a prescribed irradiation interval to the phase of the precession movement of the water magnetization (for instance, 0°, 0°, 180°, 180°, 0°, 0°).
