A system for protecting grape vines, and other frost sensitive crops, from frost damage and winter-kill. The system utilizes high-grafting of Vitis vinifera fruit wood to frost resistant rootstock. The system also uses a heat source to protect the vinifera portion of the vines. These two aspects of the invention may be used in combination whi ch results in improved performance over either used on its own.
