<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form high-quality images having high image density and free of image defects such as fog and image deletion over a prolonged period of time and to improve continuity, in an image forming apparatus with a blade cleaning member and a contact transfer system. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 comprises an electrophotographic photoreceptor 2 with an organic photosensitive layer in a surface, a charging device 3, an exposure device 4, a developing device 5, a contact transfer device 7 and the blade cleaning member 8, and uses a two-component developer comprising a toner and a carrier obtained by covering the surface of magnetic material particles with a synthetic resin, wherein an amount of wear of the organic photosensitive layer after printing on 100,000 recording media is 0.4-1.0 μm, and the ratio (D<SB>1</SB>/D<SB>0</SB>) between a synthetic resin coverage D<SB>0</SB>(%) in the carrier before printing on 100,000 recording media and a synthetic resin coverage D<SB>1</SB>(%) in the carrier after printing on 100,000 recording media is 0.8-1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
