PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection-type display device capable of surely decreasing image trouble by protecting a projection lens, using simple structure. SOLUTION: The projection-type display device has a structure, where a transparent protective plate 20 covering over a projection lens 49 projecting a video is arranged on the same surface as the front 3a of an external cabinet 2 on the front side of the projection lens 49, so that the projection lens 49 is enclosed hermetically and protected by the transparent protection plate 20. Furthermore, it has a structure where a translucent member 21, having an aperture corresponding to the projection lens 49, is arranged inside the protective plate 20, and projection distance detection sensors for autofocus 24a and 24b are arranged close to the projection lens 49 in the inner side of the translucent member 21.
