PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of producing a high-purity quaternary cyclic amidinium salt at a low production cost, by using raw materials given at low prices. SOLUTION: A method for producing the quaternary cyclic amidinium salt comprises reacting an organic dihalide compound (A) with a monoalkylamine (B) or reacting a diamine compound (C) with an alkylating agent (D), so as to produce a disubstituted diamine (E) expressed by general formula (1), reacting the produced disubstituted diamine (E) with an organic acid and/or an organic acid ester (F) and then conducting distillation, so as to produce an amide compound (G) of the disubstituted diamine expressed by general formula (2), and reacting the produced amide compound (G) of the disubstituted diamine with an organic acid and/or an inorganic acid (H), so as to produce the quaternary cyclic amidinium-organic salt and/or inorganic salt (I) expressed by general formula (3).
