<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of wrinkle in a recording medium during the fixing of a toner image to its second side while utilizing the advantage of cooling the recording medium with a toner image fixed to its first side, in an image forming method and an image forming apparatus capable of executing the method. <P>SOLUTION: The recording medium S conveyed from a fixing device 5 is cooled by blowing air onto the recording medium S by a blower 9. When a recording medium S conveyed from the fixing device 5 after subjected to fixing of a toner image to its first side by the fixing device 5 is cooled by blowing air onto the recording medium by blowing air, an amount of air blown to an area extending from a certain part of the recording medium to the trailing end thereof in the direction of recording medium conveyance for fixing the toner image to the first side is made lower than a regular amount of blown air. To decrease the amount of blown air, a shutter 10 is disposed between the blower 9 and a path for the recording medium, the operating speed of the blower 9 is decreased, or the blower 9 is stopped.
