PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for weight reduction processing, by which a sufficient change of a feeling is provided especially in a combination of a polymethylene terephthalate-based fiber and a fiber material having a different weight reduction rate. SOLUTION: In the method for weight reduction processing by which a fabric composed of a polymethylene terephthalate-based fiber is provided with an alkali agent and then heat-treated, the treatment is carried out while running the fabric between rollers.
