PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dope of cellulose ester film used as a protective film for a polarizing plate etc. of a liquid crystal display device (LCD), to provide a preparation method of the dope of cellulose ester film, to provide an optical film which is obtained by using the dope of the cellulose ester film, is excellent in dimensional characteristics, has a high film strength and has improved toughness, to provide a method for manufacturing the optical film and, further, to provide a polarizing plate excellent in dimensional stability by using the optical film. SOLUTION: In the preparation of a cellulose ester film as the optical film including at least hydrolysate of one kind of metal alkoxide, a dope of the cellulose ester film is prepared by mixing an organic solvent, the hydrolysate of metal alkoxide and cellulose ester, wherein the cellulose ester includes the return material of cellulose ester film of >0% and≤80%.
