PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for an electronic component easy to reduce its thickness, excellent in mechanical strength, dimensional stability, and heat resistant property, having a shut-down function, and provide a method of manufacturing the separator for electronic component excellent in productivity. SOLUTION: The separator for electronic component is composed of a porous film composed of a resin material made of a synthetic resin having glass transition temperature of not less than 180°C, and an organic filler having melting point of 110°C to 160°C. The separator is appropriately used for electronic components like lithium ion battery, polymer lithium battery, aluminum electrolyte capacitor, electric double-layer capacitor or the like.
