PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microcomputer with which a remote control transmitter coping with various controlled apparatuses is manufactured in a short period of time. SOLUTION: A programmable ROM 3 storing an application program in a rewritable manner, a CR oscillation circuit 6, and a light emitting element drive circuit 7 driving and controlling an infrared light emitting element are built in the microcomputer 1 which controls the operation of the remote control transmitter, and only one IC chip is used in common for the main component parts of the remote control transmitters of different specifications.
