PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for reproducing multivalue information, capable of increasing the separation degree of the distribution of an intercell value and improving the accuracy of reproduction. SOLUTION: An optical simulation result shows that intercell value becomes larger as a difference in mean values of cells before and after the intercell value is obtained is larger. The intercell value is corrected based on the result. In other words, by making correction according to a difference between an intercell value sampled when the center of a reproducing optical spot comes to a boundary between a cell and its subsequent cell and a cell median sampled when the center of an optical spot comes to the center of cells before and after the intercell value is obtained, the separation degree of the intercell value is increased, and the accuracy of reproduction is improved.
