PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a serial data transmission/reception device which enables speed up of data transfer and reduction of CPU load by selecting a data processing method corresponding to the data transfer method in advance in a serial bus to which a plurality of devices which perform data communication are connected. SOLUTION: On a serial bus 3 to which an initiator device 100 such as a PC, and a target device 101 such as an HDD are connected, the initiator device 100 is equipped with an information analysis means 105 which acquires and analyzes transmission and reception of information such as a description, data transfer capability and a correspondence protocol of the target devices, and a data control method selection means 106 to select a data processing technique determined effective to the data transfer method of the target devices 105. Sequence of data transfer from the target device 105 becomes the order predicted by the selected data processing technique, and data transfer can be accelerated and the CPU load can be reduced.
