PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for mounting a lens barrel that enable a lens barrel portion to be mounted on a lens holder precisely in a shorter operation time. SOLUTION: The device for mounting the lens barrel has a sucking means, an abutting means, a distance detecting means, and a threadably engagement means. The sucking means sucks the lens barrel portion mounted on a stage and the abutting means conveys the lens barrel portion to a position opposite the lens holder and makes the lens barrel portion abut against the lens holder. Further, the threadable engagement means engages the lens barrel portion threadably with the lens holder until the vertical distance of the lens barrel portion to the lens holder that the distance detecting means detects reaches a first specified distance. Namely, the threadable engagement means stops engaging the lens barrel portion once the lens barrel portion is threadably engaged up to a specified screwing-in depth.
