PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a new structure near a existing structure by performing an underpinning work while securing safety, reducing construction cost, and reducing a construction period. SOLUTION: A hole 22 is vertically drilled in the horizontal extension part of a footing 3 supporting the existing structure 1, and at the same time, a reinforcement steel material 21 for reaction receipt is installed on the column 2 or the beam 4 of the existing structure just above the footing or the both. Next, a steel tube pipe 23 is inserted into the hole 22, and press-fitted into a ground under the footing while taking a reaction on the reinforcement steel material 21. A jack 24 is installed between the upper end of the steel tube pile 23 and the reinforcement steel material 21, and the existing structure is supported by the steel tube pile 23 through the reinforcement steel material 21 and the jack 24. A part of the extension part of the footing is broken and the earth retaining wall 10 of the new structure is constructed at that position adjacently to the existing structure.
