<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent for oral administration showing advantageous selective adsorption properties comprising scarce adsorption of useful components in vivo and favorable performance of adsorbing toxic substances. <P>SOLUTION: The adsorbent for oral administration is composed of spherical active carbon produced by using a thermosetting resin as a carbon source, and having a diameter of 0.01-1 mm and a specific surface area determined in accordance with Langmuir's adsorption equation of ≥1,000 m<SP>2</SP>/g, or composed of surface-modified spherical active carbon produced by using a thermosetting resin as a carbon source, and having a diameter of 0.01-1 mm, a specific surface area determined in accordance with Langmuir's adsorption equation of ≥1,000 m<SP>2</SP>/g, a total acidic group content of 0.40-1.00 meq/g and a total basic group content of 0.40-1.10 meq/g. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
