<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a method for controlling preview display by which no problem occurs for displaying a preview, in the case of an image forming apparatus which can display the preview of an image and has the function of performing no-operation-time processing. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a preview display means for displaying the preview of an image, a preview display instruction input means to which a preview display instruction to display the preview on the preview display means is inputted from a user and a no-operation-time processing performing means which performs previously set non-operation-time processing when the state of no operation by the user persists for a predetermined time, i.e. no-operation-time elapses.
