PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of photographing a principal object providing an excellent contrast when photographing using an auxiliary light source while using a linear-logarithmic sensor.

SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 1 includes: an imaging element 4 with a plurality of pixels capable of switching between linear conversion of linearly converting incident light into an electric signal and logarithmic conversion of logarithmically converting the incident light into an electric signal depending on an incident luminous quantity; an illumination light emission section 6 for emitting light to an object at imaging; and an inflection point revision section 25 that changes the position of an inflection point acting like a border between a linear region and a logarithmic region so that a luminance distribution of the principal object is located in the linear region of an output signal of the imaging element 4 when the illumination light emission section 6 is used for the photographing.
