PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the reduction of the quantity of optical coupling to a channel optical waveguide, having a period polarization inversion structure of a nonlinear optical crystal in an optical wavelength conversion element, when the fundamental wave having a large astigmatic difference impinges. SOLUTION: The optical wavelength conversion element includes the channel optical waveguide, having the periodic polarization inversion structure of the nonlinear optical crystal and a slab optical waveguide which is connected to the channel optical waveguide and controls a lateral mode in one direction of the fundamental wave, corresponding to the periodic polarization inversion structure of the nonlinear optical crystal.
