PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which an ink cartridge can be easily installed at the time of replacing the cartridges of the printer and secure a space-saving. SOLUTION: An installation opening 4 of the ink cartridge 3 is provided at the side of a slide unit 2 pulled out from the printer body 1. The installation opening 4 is provided with a guide member 12 which opens and closes in connection with the operation of inserting and withdrawing the slide unit 2 in and out. Thereby, the guide member 12 is kept opened at installing the ink cartridge 3, and the ink cartridge 3 can easily be installed even in the state of the installation opening 4 being hardly seen, and the guide member 12 is restored to the predetermined position when the slide unit 2 is returned to the printer body 1, then the space-saving can be secured.
