<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting apparatus wherein the formation of electrodes is facilitated by making the distances between respective electrodes of a light emitting device chip and a mounting substrate therefor nearly equal. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device chip 2 comprises an electrode 25 electrically connected to a first semiconductor layer 22, and an electrode 26 electrically connected to a second semiconductor layer 24 on one surface thereof. The light emitting device chip 2 is face-down mounted on the ceramic mounting substrate 1 via bumps 3. The light emitting device chip 2 has a stepped part 27 between the electrode 25 arranged in the periphery and the electrode 26 arranged in the central part, and the surface of the mounting substrate 1 opposed to the light emitting device chip 2 is formed to be a concave curved surface whose central part is concave than the periphery. When the light emitting device chip 2 is mounted on the ceramic mounting substrate 1, the relation between the depth and the location of the stepped part 27 and the shape of the opposed surface is set so that the distances between the opposed surface of the substrate 1 and respective electrodes 25, 26 will be equal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
