METHOD OF DIVIDING GLASS INTO SEPARATE PIECES WITH AID OF CUTTING LIQUID AND IMPROVED CUTTING LIQUID FOR THE SAME METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of dividing a glass substrate with the aid of a cutting liquid and the cutting liquid capable of industrially reducing the breaking force applied to the glass substrate or the deviation of the breaking force in the cutting liquid or with the aid of the cutting liquid.

SOLUTION: The method of dividing a glass substrate into separate pieces with the aid of the cutting liquid comprises each step of (a) producing a linear crack on the glass, (b) treating the linear crack with the aqueous cutting liquid containing at least one kind of an ionic organic compound containing a cation with a positively charged nitrogen atom and a hydroxyl anion to act or destructively act on the linear crack during or immediately after the formation of the linear crack and (c) dividing or separating the glass substrate into the glass pieces by applying stress along the linear crack of the glass.
