OPTICAL DISK RECORDING/REPRODUCING DEVICE AND OPTICAL DISK RECORDING/REPRODUCING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate useless recording/reproducing time caused by a deceleration processing in detecting the distortion of an optical disk and to stabilize a recording/reproducing quality. SOLUTION: The data recording surface of the optical disk is partitioned into a plurality of zones in a radial direction, and recording/reproducing is started from an inner periphery to an outer periphery at a CAV (constant angular velocity). A disk distortion detecting part 5 detects a variation in a tracking error signal or focus error signal caused by disk distortion at each zone boundary. When the variation exceeds a prescribed threshold, a control part 6 sequentially decelerates a rotational speed with a pattern registered in a storing part 9, calculates a linear velocity at which the variation is lower than the threshold and carries out recording/reproducing in the next zone at a ZCLV (zoned constant linear velocity).
