<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a production unit price by simplifying the circuitry of a driving portion of a plasma display apparatus, to suppress interference or EMI generation between driving signals, and to enhance the contrast by reducing dark discharge caused when the plasma display apparatus is driven. <P>SOLUTION: One of a first electrode and a second electrode is supplied with a first set-up signal (RP1) in a first sub-field period of one frame and a second set-up signal (RP3) having a smaller voltage than the first set-up signal in any one of the remaining sub-fields.
