PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To divide multidimensional data into a plurality of clusters, properly reflecting a tendency except a distance between points inherent in the multidimensional data. SOLUTION: This data division method as one mode has steps for: inputting the multidimensional data; generating a plurality of candidates for a division plane dividing the multidimensional data; temporarily dividing the multidimensional data by the candidates for the division plane to generate the clusters; generating a model from each of the clusters; calculating an evaluation value from each of the generated model and the multidimensional data; comparing the evaluation values corresponding to the respective candidates for the division plane, and selecting the candidate for the division plane having highest evaluation; dividing the multidimensional data by the selected candidate for the division plane; and performing from the step for generating the candidate for the division plane to the step for dividing the multidimensional data, to the multidimensional data after the division.
